Zigmas Paronis, 92, of Syracuse passed away on Saturday. Zigmas was born in Lithuania and immigrated to the United States in 1950, and lived in New York City for a time. He moved Syracuse in the late 1960's and was employed as a civil engineer with the New York State D.O.T. Zigmas traveled extensively in the States and abroad, but particularly enjoyed yearly trips to the Adirondacks. He was fond of the Arts, especially classical music. Survivors include his wife, of 61 years, Margot; his children, Thomas, Christine and Carol and his grandsons, Eric and Carlos.
Calling hours will be Friday, June 23rd, from 10 to 11:30 am at Carter Funeral Home, 1604 Grant Blvd., Syracuse and a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:10 pm at St. Daniel Church. A luncheon will follow the Mass and interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Arc of Onondaga, 600 S. Wilbur Ave., Syracuse, NY 13204.
