Edward J. Gorman
August 8, 1930 - December 25, 2017
Edward James Gorman, 87, of East Syracuse passed away on Monday. Ed was born on August 8, 1930 in Syracuse and was the son of the late Francis and Edna Gorman. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Harry and Bernard and by his son-in-law, Ronald Fiaschetti.
Survivors include his loving wife, Shancy, with 55 years of marriage filled with unconditional love and trust in God and his children, who he dearly loved, Nanette Fiaschetti, Steve (Tammy) Courtney, Valerie (John) Rosenquist, & Janette Gorman, as well as his grandchildren, Michelle (Daren) Geyer, Matthew Fiaschetti, and great-great granddaughter, Rachel Grace Geyer. He also cherished his many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A former bowling tournament contender, he and his wife were great fans of NASCAR, basketball & football. He always looked forward to listening to Joel Osteen’s televised shows on Sunday evenings.
Ed was a member of The First United Church in East Syracuse, NY where he enjoyed Rev. Eddy’s sermons.
A veteran of the U.S. Marines, he proudly served our country in the Korean War. He was a Mason with the Konosioni Lodge #950 and recalled many fond memories at special events entertaining as Edju the Clown for the Tigris Temple Shrine Clown Unit.
Ed worked as a Foreman and later was promoted to Superintendent, until his retirement from Syracuse Stamping Company after 40 years of service.
An honest, hard-working man, Ed will be dearly missed by family and friends.
Calling hours will be Tuesday, Jan. 2nd, from 11 am to 1:30 pm at Carter Funeral Home, 1604 Grant Blvd., Syracuse. Services will follow at 1:30 pm at the funeral home and burial, with Military Honors, will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.
